Manually install Android applications

Android is really doing well ever since it has been unveiled in the industry. A lot of devices are currently running on an Android operating system from mobile phones to tablets. Unlike Apple, Android applications and games can be downloaded outside its own market. This has been an advantage to Android application makers. On the other hand, Apple only has its App Store. If you would like to install applications that are not available on the Android market on your Android device, you have to do it manually. You can have it installed in no time by following these easy steps:

  • Step 1. Make sure that your device is running an Android operating system. Also, make sure that you have a file manager application installed on your device. One good file manager is the Astro application. Go to settings then application.
  • Step 2. When have already clicked application, make sure to check Unknown sources.

This will allow applications outside the market to be installed but keep in mind that since they are applications that was not verified by the Android market authority; those applications can gain access on your personal and private details. Make sure to read the application’s warning or terms before proceeding to installation so that you will have an idea what it would be accessing. Once you are decided on installing it, follow the next step.

  • Step 3. Download your desired application from your computer and connect your phone to it. Once connected, transfer the APK (.apk) file you downloaded unto your SD card.
  • Step 4. Search for your downloaded APK file using your file manager and click it.

  • Step 5. Read the terms and warnings of that downloaded APK file. After reading, proceed and install it.
  • Step 6. That would be it and your application should be available for use. Enjoy.
